8 Hours of Joomla and web development online training one-on-one with a teacher via GoToMeeting.

This is an ideal lesson block for those that want to learn how to develop web sites with Joomla, Dreamweaver and Firefox. It is particularly suited for those with experience in HTML and CSS that would like to learn Joomla while at the same time building either their own Joomla web site or a client's web site.

Lessons are taught in 4 blocks of 2 hours each and they usually cover:

Block 1:

Overview of the integration environment
Installation and configuration of Dreamweaver, Firefox and Cpanel
Local site set up, including XAMPP (for local development)

Block 2:

Installing and configuring Joomla + relative extensions
Connection and configuration of local and remote site
Overview of workflow including basic template editing procedures

Block 3:

Basic and advanced template design concepts
Joomla Overrides
PHP/HTML Integration

Block 4:

Final web site template design
Advanced concept overview and practice
Q&A Session with student

NOTE: The above lesson example assumes that the student has basic to intermediate knowledge of HTML & CSS and some PHP knowledge as well as experience in building static web sites.

The above is a tentative schedule that's dependent on many factors. We based the curriculum on an average learning curve and an average basic set of computing skills.

Completing a Joomla Web site during the course of a block of session is also dependent on the complexity of said web site. Your mileage may vary.
