Harvest: Junior Rails Developer
Location: New York, NY
URL: http://www.getharvest.com/
Harvest is looking for a Junior Rails Developer to join our team.
About Harvest:
Harvest is one of the earliest Rails applications designed for businesses. We took a rather boring and painful problem — time tracking — and applied our expertise in design & technology. We're making time tracking enjoyable and effortless.
We started as a team of 3 using Rails 0.14. Since then, we've grown to 19 Harvesters, serving thousands of customers from over 150 countries (and yes, we're now on Rails 3). We're a profitable and growing business that is completely self-funded.
Now, About You:
You'll be joining a team of 6 awesome developers, working on a popular web application that powers some of coolest businesses out there. Here's a glimpse at Harvest's development process:
You should have a strong foundation in computer science, and some experience with Ruby & Rails. You are smart, curious, and eager to learn. We value honesty, responsibility, and humility, and we hope you do too.
Sample of Things You Might Work On:
- Recreate bugs and unexpected behavior, then fix the problem. Communicate the problem and solution back to our customers.
- Refactor code to use new technologies and techniques. For example, our report generation and export just went from a tmpfile on disk to streaming output from our Rails daemons.
- Collaborate with our interaction designers and front-end devs on a better first-time user experience, then make it happen.
- Explore exciting possibilities for 3rd party APIs — everything from financial tools to support dashboards to Google app integrations.
- Move a small codebase over to a new technology like Rails 3, Ruby 1.9.3, CoffeeScript, or CouchDB.
Job Perks:
- Work that is meaningful, challenging and fun.
- A Mac of your choice + GeekDesk (standing desk) at our beautiful Soho office.
- Excellent coffee.
- Good salary.
- 100% health benefits.
- And a promise: no political B.S., cubicles, or TPS reports.
To apply: Email us at jdevs@getharvest.com with the subject "Harvest Jr Dev (37s)". Describe your CS background, tell us why you want to work at Harvest, and why you'd make a good fit here. Bonus points: include a link to your GitHub account.
